Renee and Andy were looking for a new home with decent land in the city, but they quickly discovered every home was expensive and outdated. They also liked the idea of being away from the hustle & bustle of the city, so they decided to build their dream home on 3 acres nested in the trees on the outskirts of Lincoln Nebraska.
The landscape created the perfect backdrop for their new home and the porch a great space for entertaining!
Construction In Progress
The home was designed with a nice, open layout. When selecting tile, Renee went for a large format 20″ x 20″ Porcelain Tile. The large tile filled the space perfectly and also made it feel larger. The kitchen was designed and built with granite countertops & custom cabinets. Pendant lights were also chosen to highlight the kitchen island.
To learn more about Renee’s project, we asked her a few questions. Here’s what she had to say.
Granite Countertops & Custom Cabinets
How did you tackle your project? “We used a general contractor to complete all of the work and manage the job, but we made all the design and product selections for our home.”
Kitchen 20 x 20 Marazzi Tile
What is your favorite thing about the tile? “My favorite thing about the tile is that is does not show dirt! I have it all through the kitchen, laundry room, powder room, bathroom, and front entry way. I also have 3 dogs, so the light color pattern in the Marazzi Campione tile is perfect!”
Marazzi ArteaStone Bathroom
Where did your design inspiration come from? “Our inspiration for the kitchen came from the granite we selected. Our bathroom was also built around the Onyx we used in the Shower & Vanity.”

Lastly, do you have any design tips or things you learned through the process? “Pick out the main piece in the room for your color and then base your other selections around it. We loved ordering online with South Cypress, and our contractor liked the idea of having all the tile delivered directly to our home.”
