When Jennifer chose to refresh the main floor of her home, she wanted to choose a new flooring that would really make the rooms “pop” with a warm, clean look.
The living room before the renovation
Previously, the main floor featured a combination of carpet, vinyl, and hardwood flooring. Jennifer decided that she wanted to replace these with a consistent flooring throughout the space.
The dining room prior to renovation
The dining room already had hardwood flooring, but Jennifer decided that it needed an update as well.
The living room during the renovation process
To help with her flooring and design choices, Jennifer enlisted the help of her friend and noted designer Kristie Barnett (AKA “The Decorologist“). Kristie helped Jennifer look at different flooring options and make a decision that was right for her space and style.
The kitchen underfloor
Using a single flooring throughout the main floor meant replacing the vinyl in the kitchen. Jennifer had to be sure to choose a flooring that was versatile enough to look as good in the living room as in the kitchen. Here you can see the kitchen mid-renovation. It took Jennifer’s contractor about a day to demo the floor throughout the main floor.

The hardwood really gives the living room a clean and airy feel!

Jennifer says it took her contractor about 2 days to install the 1,700 square feet of hardwood.
The finished kitchen!
The new flooring works beautifully throughout the entire space–including the kitchen! Jennifer says that having a consistent flooring throughout the main floor gives the home a cohesive look which helps the space seem larger and more open!
The area between the living room and dining room
The wood in the dining room was turned perpendicular to the wood in the living room so that there would be definition between the two rooms while maintaining consistency. You can see this in the photo above.

Jennifer says she fell in love with this particular flooring because of the warmth that it brings to the space. She also says that she loves the 5″ width.
